Description
This 602cc engine has been fully reconditioned and refurbished in the workshops of the Méhari Club Cassis using historic machine tools.
Produced from 1968 onwards, it powered numerous 2CV models until the end of its production in 1990 (engine of the 2CV6 and the AK350 and AK400 vans), as well as derivative vehicles such as the Méhari and the Dyane.
This engine is an EXCHANGE unit. For recycling reasons it is essential that we have your old engine back. There is a surcharge of £350 for this which will be invoiced to you separately at the time of ordering (we will not dispatch your order until we receive payment for the surcharge) however the surcharge will be fully refunded once we receive your old engine. Before you send us your old engine, please drain all oil and remember to take off any components you will need to fit your new engine.

. Gaskets (please order a 1012110 gasket set separately)
Warranty:
Standard warranty is six months.
Extended warranty to 24 months with the use of new air filter, engine breather, oil pressure switch and pipes to and from oil breather (References: 1012510, 1011710, 1012420, 1011550, 1011740) – All need to be purchased alongside engine.
Oil: Multigrade or semi-synthetic 15W-50 or 20W-50 oils. Synthetic oils are NOT to be used in any circumstances.
Fuel: it is best practice to use super unleaded.
Ignition timing and valve clearance must be checked during engine installation and valve clearance must be rechecked after 1000 miles.
It is essential to refer to the maintenance and warranty booklet provided when you purchased your rebuilt Engine.
Detailed description of the Engine rebuild:
1 – Complete disassembly and cleaning
2. Parts retained as is, resurfaced, or discarded:
Crankshaft
Camshaft
Right and left crankcase halves
Right and left cylinder heads
Oil pump
3 – Crankshaft reassembled with replacement of the following parts with new ones:
Connecting rod bearings (big and small ends)
Crankshaft bearings
Timing sprocket
4 – Camshaft reassembly:
Resurfacing of the camshaft by a subcontractor or replacement with a new one depending on wear
Replacement of the bearings
Inspection of the double timing sprocket
5 – Crankcase preparation and reassembly:
Re-tapping of all threads. Use of thread inserts if necessary
Resurfacing of the bearing surfaces
Resurfacing of the tappets
6 – Cylinder head preparation and reassembly:
Re-tapping of all threads
Use of thread inserts if necessary
Cylinder head and gasket surface grinding
. Valve guide replacement
. Valve seat grinding
. Cylinder liner replacement if necessary
. Installation of new intake and exhaust valves
. Valve lapping
7- Engine reassembly with:
. New gasket set
. New cylinder liner, piston, and piston ring set
. New oil cooler
. Timing adjustment
8 – Engine testing:
. Manual test followed by bench test
. Gradual warm-up
. Rising engine speed
. Checking for leaks, unusual noises, and clearances
