“You might get the impression from our website that I'm passionate about the 2CV…”
It started in 1990, when Darren and his girlfriend Lisa – now his wife – sold their two cars and bought a single 2CV. Since then there's hardly been a time without one in the family.
He's raced in the 2CV 24-hour race, rebuilt cars of his own, and restored a 2CV with his son Jacob. Today he owns and runs The 2CV Shop.
Darren's 2CV story
- 1990 Darren and Lisa sell their two cars and buy one 2CV – "Brian". It goes all over Europe, honeymoon included.
- 1993 A Dyane for £50 – "Ermintrude" – is put back on the road.
- 1995 Three months with a modern car. They miss Brian, so they buy a 2CV Van.
- 2001 The van goes, followed by Blue Special, two Dollys, "Smokey Jo" and Beachcomber, which they rebuilt.
- 2016 Son Jacob buys a red 2CV. Darren and Jacob restore it and get it back on the road.
- 2018 Lisa finally gets her Dyane – a Côte d’Azur, "Ermintrude 2".
