New bodyshell & panels – step by step.

1. 1 Seal & undersealSeam sealer on every seam, then the underside is undersealed for the best possible protection.
2. 2 Body shopA thin coat of filler takes out any small blemishes.
3. 3 PrimerA coat of high-quality etch primer, followed by 3 coats of high-build primer.
4. 4 SandingThe high-build primer is sanded down to a smooth base for the colour coats.
5. 5 Colour3 colour coats of high-quality paint that won’t fade like cheaper paints do.
6. 6 Cavity waxEvery cavity in the panels and bodyshell is wax-injected.
7. 7 Chassis & running gearMeanwhile the running gear is stripped, shot-blasted, painted and overhauled on a new chassis.
8. 8 ReassemblyThe body goes on the chassis and your 2CV is built to your spec – about 150 hours.
9. 9 MOT & test driveMOT’d and test-driven before you collect it, with a 1-year parts and labour warranty.

Rebuild your own bodyshell – step by step.

1. 1 Strip downYour 2CV is carefully dismantled, right down to the last nut and bolt.
2. 2 WeldingNew floors, sills, lower bulkhead, boot floor and inner rear wings, plus original Citroën windscreen and rear light panels – as needed.
3. 3 Sand-blastingRemoves all paint, exposes any hidden rust, and shows up metal that welding has left too thin.
4. 4 New panel setWe almost always fit new panels – it’s usually impossible to get all the rust out of the old ones.
5. 5 Underside & paintPrimed, seam-sealed and undersealed, then etch primer, 3 high-build coats and 3 colour coats. Filler for small blemishes only – never holes or big dents.
6. 6 Chassis & running gearMeanwhile the running gear is stripped, shot-blasted, painted and overhauled on a new chassis.
7. 7 ReassemblyThe body goes on the chassis and your 2CV is built to your spec – about 150 hours.

3. 3 Inspection & estimateWe inspect it and give you an estimate for the work needed to get it back on the road.
4. 4 You decideChoose whether to go ahead with the work on the estimate. Often it’s a re-chassis, service and MOT, or some structural welding.
